Apologies to my American friends…
It’s Tuesday morning… the day after the Bruins beat Montreal 4-2 to go up 3-0 in the 2009 Playoffs. I am not writing this post to speak about the game… or the series or even hockey for that matter. As most know, I am a Canadian who loves the Bruins but today I am very embarrassed of how the fans in Montreal booed the National Anthem (again) before the start of the game last night. I have no idea how or why they do this. Just last year I was in Boston for games 3 & 4 of the same teams and 3 Canadiens fans beside me wouldn’t even stand up for the American Athem… I let them know how I felt about it :-)
I know all habs fans aren’t like this and I hope Americans understand that it’s only a few who are embarrassing us up here in Canada. I think it’s ridiculous, as do the Canadiens players… so I really hope they stop this for the next game.
So, a big sincere SORRY to all my American friends (hockey and non-hockey). I think it’s brutal that they would do this. I really hope it stops, it bothers me a lot.
Cheers,
Adrian
P.S - If anyone out there would like to comment on the matter and explain why they think it is okay to boo the Anthem, please feel free to shed some light here on the situation. Or, if you’d like to send this around to try and make sure it stops that would be fantastic also :-)
